Hypnosis as a Tool for Personal Goal Setting
It is that time of year. As the holidays serve as our venue to celebrate what we achieved the past year, we also look forward and take time to plan for the next year. 2011 is a year that will always be remembered by people all over the world. It has been a particularly difficult year for many people who were victims of the many calamities, but it is also the year when humanity displayed its finest hours – its capacity to survive, to extend help and to establish solidarity.
Since Christmas is a season of hope, we hold on to the premise that as long as we are alive, there is hope for everyone. And that is the reason we set goals, because they serve as our guides. But where does hypnosis come in?
There are at least four key areas where hypnosis serves as an essential tool in goal-setting:
a. Hypnosis helps us access our deepest desires
Spiritual guides always say that our deepest desires are God’s desires for us. The wish of the universe is already embedded in our unconscious. What hypnosis can do is to help us access our deepest desires as this will guide us in our goal planning.
b. Hypnosis uncovers our core problems
One of the main hindrances to our success is our core personal problem which many of us are still unaware of. Hypnotherapists can help people uncover their core personal problems or the root causes of their unhealthy behavior. These might be repressed memories, experiences of trauma, and the like.
c. Hypnosis unearths our inner strengths
An essential result of hypnotherapy is it makes conscious what is unconscious. We have so much potential, so much inner resources that remain untapped. These inner strengths, when unearthed, will become main factors in our goal setting.
d. Hypnosis clarifies our weaknesses
Our goals should factor in our weaknesses. Our directions in life should play on our strength and minimize our weakness. Thus, it is very important that we become aware what are our weaknesses; what weakens our faith, what shutters our resolves; what temptations we can’t resist. These can be revealed using hypnosis.
Humans are designed to look forward. And yet, we look forward taking with us the best lessons that our memory provides. That is where hypnosis becomes a gift to humans.
