Women in Midlife: From Chaos to Creativity
by/margit cathrine moller

If you have never been called a defiant, incorrigible, impossible woman… have faith… there is yet time." - from Women Who Run with the Wolves

Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, noted poet, author, trauma specialist, and author of the quote above is an empowered woman. And she considers it her mission to empower other women. "Never before on this planet have more awakening women been alive at the same time; with a righteous expectation that a life of meaning, transforming self and others, belongs to all of us, irrevocably."

Being an empowered woman myself, I find great joy in enabling other women to find their own power and becoming creative beings who contribute to the Universe. But I find a different kind of joy in accompanying the life journey of women who are in midlife transition. For me, it is exciting and life-giving.

Women in midlife may encounter several layers of feelings that can erupt into a crisis situation: the realities of aging, of marriage difficulties, of an empty nest when kids go to college or get married, of a body going through hormonal changes, of hot flushes. Sometimes, all these can cause chaos in a woman’s life.

But what I do is to help them navigate through this chaos using several approaches like Counseling, EFT, NLP, or soulwork so that they discover the power within. Eventually, enlightenment and freedom follow then comes creativity.

Yes, I agree with Dr. Estes, there is still time for women to empower themselves, and one of those best times is when they reach midlife.

Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this is all life really means.

Never make your home in a place. Make a home for yourself inside your own head. You'll find what you need to furnish it - memory, friends you can trust, love of learning, and other such things. That way it will go with you wherever you journey.
