How NLP Help Improve Our Self-esteem

I was reading one day about an interview with Susanne Bier, the Danish director whose film “In a Better World” won the Best Foreign Film Oscar this year. While film critics said the film is about revenge, Bier said it is about learning. "Christian goes from being a very angry kid to be someone who has learned something, and who might eventually turn into a compassionate human being, because he has met compassion."

This kept me thinking about those people who don’t have dramatic, life-changing experiences that alter their world-view and their sense of self-worth. Then, I thought this is how NLP, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming, provides an alternative.

You can visualize those life-changing moments until your brain believes they are real. You see, our brain cannot differentiate between something real and something we vividly imagine. By visualizing and associating to an experience, our brains accept it as real. With NLP, we guide you to do that, do it several times, and do it with increasing intensity until you your brain believe the experience is real. Your life has changed for the good, and with that, you self-esteem increases.

Bier’s audiences all over the world leave the cinema yearning for a better world for their children. I do, too. And that is why I am committed to guide people to become who they want to become, and that starts with a solid self-esteem.
