Throughout history, advancements and breakthroughs have always been met with skepticism and denunciation. Thus, when Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) was pronounced as the “greatest healing breakthrough of the 20th century”, a surge of criticism surfaced, basically calling it the greatest healing scam of the century. The debate, as there should be, continues until the ongoing scientific research will produce results that will put all cynics to rest.
For me as a practitioner of EFT, what is of utmost importance is not that it is the greatest breakthrough, but that I have proven that it helps me and it helps my clients. But perhaps, it is difficult to understand and appreciate the value of EFT if you don’t understand the concept of Life Energies, a term used by some authors to describe the innate healing power of the body.
Throughout history and around the globe, life energy has been part of the consciousness of healers. The Greeks called it thymos; Hippocrates called it vis medicatrix naturae or the healing power of nature. In Chinese philosophy it is called Chi, while the Egyptians called it Ka. This is the same life energy which the Hindus call Prana and the Hawaiians call Mana.
In the 19th Century Europe, it was introduced as the Odic force - vital energy or life force - coined from the name of the Norse god Odin.
James Cameron’s blockbuster movie “Avatar” portrays this concept very well – each organism has an inherent life force. This is what is meant by Life Energy. Any disruption of this will cause pain and other negative emotions. Thus, it is through and only through life energy that all healing happens.
With EFT, which Gary Craig describes as an emotional form of acupuncture, we tap with our fingertips certain points in the body while the client is “tuned in” to the problem or condition. With the tapping, the usual flow of life energy returns paving the way to better health and wellness.

"Nature gave men two ends - one to sit on and one to think with.
Ever since then man's success or failure has been dependent on the one he used most."
- George R. Kirkpatrick -
Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this is all life really means.
- Robert Louis Stevenson
Never make your home in a place. Make a home for yourself inside your own head. You'll find what you need to furnish it - memory, friends you can trust, love of learning, and other such things. That way it will go with you wherever you journey.
- Tad Williams
