Counseling in Toronto Today
by/margit cathrine moller

Counseling in Toronto – a very creative and dynamic industry – unexpectedly got a boost recently when international star Kristin Stewart attended the Toronto Film Festival announced that she was going into grief counseling and was looking for a therapist. She acknowledged that her grief over separation from her boyfriend, actor Robert Pattinson, turned her into an emotional wreck following an affair with a married director.

But the other news that brought counseling in Toronto to the headlines came just a few days when ago when Canada’s largest university, the University of Toronto, announced that it is getting its first full time Muslim chaplain to cater to its 5000 Muslim students. Law student Amjad Tarsin was hired to provide counseling and guidance to the Muslim youth in the university, emphasizing the stresses that Muslim students experience in and outside the university campus.

Grief counseling, anger management, stress therapy, healing of wounds, career direction, and life coaching are just some of the services offered by people engaged in counseling in Toronto. These are done by trained and experienced professionals who have specialized in specific approaches.

Like in other major urban centers, counseling in Toronto is an industry that provides a much-needed support to the city’s growing population who are dealing with personal difficulties or stresses brought about by a fast-changing society and an unpredictable environment. Without this group of professionals, the residents of Toronto might have succumbed to depression, committed suicide, or acquired addiction because of their overwhelming personal problems.

Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this is all life really means.

Never make your home in a place. Make a home for yourself inside your own head. You'll find what you need to furnish it - memory, friends you can trust, love of learning, and other such things. That way it will go with you wherever you journey.
